Treloar College Supported Internship Success
Four Treloar College students have started a Supported Internship, which is a one year programme aimed at students whose intended destination must be paid or voluntary work, part-time or full time.
Interns attend a work placement for 2-3 days per week supported by our amazing Job Coach Charlotte Warwick, who helps the interns to settle in and monitor the intern throughout the duration of the placement. When students are not at their place of work, usually for the remaining two days, they will following an individualised timetable, linked to their aspirations and areas they need to develop. This includes a strong focus on transition planning.
We have had positive feedback from all employers, including Enterprise, Disability Challengers, QE2 activity centre and Pets 4 Vets in Farnham including “She has been amazing and the team love working with her!” “Our only problem is keeping up with his demands for something to do!”
Treloar’s aims to break the barriers by supporting more young people with physical disabilities on their pathway to paid employment.
We wish to thank our employers for working with us. If you would like to find out more, please contact Maria Sherwood, Progress and Transition Manager, on maria.sherwood@treloar.org.uk
