Treloar’s achieves the Hampshire Healthy Schools Award for the third time
Treloar’s has achieved the Hampshire Healthy Schools Award for the third time. It is a great achievement by all areas and is something we can all justifiably be proud of as we seek to provide the outstanding service for which we are known and demonstrates our commitment toward the ongoing health and well-being of all of our students and staff.
The Healthy Schools Award states: “A healthy school promotes physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equips pupils and staff with the understanding, skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health. Pupils flourish in a positive environment and are given a voice to influence whole-school decisions. A healthy school understands the importance of investing in health to help pupils do their best, raise levels of achievement, improve standards and develop policies and practices to promote health.”
In order to achieve the Award, we needed to complete a nine section Whole School Review in which we demonstrated our commitment to improve welfare for students and staff across four themes:
- Personal, Social and Health Education;
- Healthy Eating;
- Physical Activity; and
- Emotional Health and Wellbeing.
This review looks at how the leadership of the school drive the four themes; what policies and training we provide to promote them; how we promote and celebrate success; and how we involve everybody in the school community in the decision making process drive towards making our school a healthy and supportive place to be.
