Treloar’s Celebrity Football match raises over £7500
A glittering line-up of famous faces took part in our charity match last weekend at the Silverlake Stadium, home of Eastleigh Football Club. Treloar’s Celebrity Football match raised over £7500 and saw over 650 people attending.
Among the celebrities, taking part were Love Island’s Jake Cornish and former TOWIE star Dan Osborne. The stars were joined on the pitch by our very own Finance Director, Simon Birch, who played in the second half of the match and gave the celebrities a run for their money!
He played alongside TV Chef Dean Edwards, Survival of the Fittest star Warren Phillips, and Eastenders star Dean Gaffney, Danny Boy Hatchard and Matt Lapinskas, who starred as Antony Moon.
Prior to the event, Treloar’s students were invited to enter a prize draw, offering them the chance to be a team mascot for the day.
Alex and Rachel were the lucky winners, getting to walk out with the celebrities onto the pitch, and meet the stars after the game in the VIP area. Both families of the children went home having had a great experience.
Alex’s mum Suzie spoke to the Southampton Daily Echo about Treloar’s and their experience: “They are just an amazing school, we were very delighted to get him in there. Alex is physically very disabled but cognitively very bright. They are really maximising his potential and getting the best out of him.
“He was lucky enough to win the competition to be the mascot here today, which was really cool. Alex absolutely loved going out with the players and he was just so delighted, all of the players gave him a fist bump. It’s just been brilliant; we don’t normally get the opportunity to do stuff like this.”
Rachel’s mum Jane said: “We came here today to support Treloar’s, they are an amazing school for her, it’s just given her so many opportunities to do things that she normally wouldn’t be able to do. They’re a wonderful school. Everybody at the match has been absolutely fantastic. So lovely and welcoming.”
Rachel enjoyed meeting the players and collected as many celebrity selfies as she could.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on the day and helped to raise over £7,500 for Treloar’s. Thank you to our amazing compare Dean Phillips, Eastleigh Football Club for hosting, Sellebrity Soccer and to our sponsor Fyffes for their incredible support on the day. The inflatable bananas were a huge hit with the crowds in the stadium.
