Treloar’s student Christmas wishes provide hope
Treloars students’ snowflakes come bearing good wishes – and are sure to warm even the frostiest of days.
It seems that meaningful art and messages adorn every wall here. From poignant pleas for equal treatment for all to wildlife photography and powerful quotes, there is much to inspire and uplift along every Treloar corridor.
If you’re especially in need of some positivity, look no further than the students’ wishes written on sparkling snowflakes in the LRC corridor.
Here, you will see more than one wish for health, safety from the virus and for a “Happy New Year” without illness for their loved ones. Another student wishes, “For this all to be over!” “No more lockdowns!” This is a sentiment shared by many of us.
Another message is similarly familiar: to go to a concert again. Yes! Who isn’t looking forward to a future whereby we can truly connect with one another again? And through music! Live! Not just through a screen!
Then, there are the simple pleasures – a hope for “Everyone to have a footspa”. If lockdowns one and two taught us anything, it’s how to find joy in the little luxuries.
Seeing these wish-snowflakes reminds us the power of staying hopeful and seeing the silver lining in the present moment when the novelty of the new normal has somewhat gone stale.
It certainly seems high time for some renewed hope and for celebrating our togetherness amongst our individual hopes and wishes. This Christmas, perhaps Treloar’s students have all the hope we need.
