Treloar’s students bring their talents to the table
On Tuesday 28th June, three finalists competed for the title of ‘Treloar Chef’ 2022. This was a new competition to Treloar’s this year, born from an idea from one of our school students, Harrison, and his love of cooking.
Harrison was keen to demonstrate that he was the best student at cooking and so the competition was arranged, with funding kindly donated by the Worshipful Company of Cooks and aprons designed for the competitors to wear.
With a lot of enthusiasm and excitement, the first heat took place with students cooking their own choice of dish. Such was the talent on display that the Alton Rotary Club, our independent judges, were hard pressed to shortlist the contestants, and they all went through to the penultimate round. In this round, students had to cook a Shepherd’s Pie.
The judging was again a difficult task, but we had our three finalists in Logan, Leon and Dan.
The final had an added layer of complexity whereby students had to design and cook a two course meal in the allotted time of their choosing.
Virginia Bond, Master of the Worshipful Company of Cooks, was on hand to present the prizes supported by Rosemary Lyn of Alton Rotary Club.
We are delighted to announce Leon as our ‘Treloar Chef’ 2022.
Congratulations to all the students who took part!
