Unique Arts Competition prize winners
We love to share student success stories and show you how creative our students can be. Earlier this year, some of Treloar’s art students entered the Unique Arts Competition 2022 – an art competition for disabled people aged 7-21. Prizes include up to £600 for entrants and £3,000 for their school/college art department; all entries had to be sent in from 10th January 2022 – 29th March 2022. The winners were announced in September.
We are delighted to announce that College student, Ellis won the Gold Award for 3D Art and bronze as the overall winner, winning the college art materials worth £1000! College student Emily also won a prize, winning a selection of art materials and a voucher for an art supply shop. Other students also won money and received a goody bag full of art materials.
Gemma Ellis, Art Teacher at Treloar’s, said:
The night was fantastic; it was hosted in the Sheraton Skyline Hotel, London Heathrow, and was very posh. We were given a three course meal and asked to ‘dress to impress’. Emily wore a lovely dress and Ellis looked very dapper in a suit. Ellis brought his mum and a carer, and Emily had her mum and dad there. I attended the evening with my two students and husband. We were all on the same table right at the front which was well-planned as our students had to keep going up to the front to achieve their prizes.
Also present at the gala was our patron Tom Yendell, mouth and foot painter. Tom Yendell is also the chairman of our Former Students Association, an association that allows Treloar’s former students to keep in touch with friends, and helps them find an excuse to visit Treloar’s from time to time. There is an annual reunion every spring at School or College and an annual newsletter to keep ex-students in touch with the latest goings-on at Treloar’s.
Congratulations to all the students who entered!
