Striving for Excellence: Planning Futures
Supported interns are back to school!
The Supported Internship students started in their work placements this term and all being well, will be going into work 2 days a week for the rest of this academic year. In this current climate, this is a real achievement for the Progress and Transition team.
We’re very proud of them. Andre is at a local secondary school, supporting the office team.
“I really enjoyed my first day and am settling into working life well with my very helpful P.A Holly”
The Supported Internship opportunity allows students to get hands-on experience, to develop valuable skills and experience in the workplace.
Work Experience: On the fast track
Students Josh and Hashim visited Scuderia Prestige in Camberley as part of a work-based visit to find out more around the different job roles in the garage. Both students are looking for work experience in the luxury car sector and are both currently following the new employability pathway. Amy from Scuderia Prestige was extremely helpful as well as the general manager in giving the students an overview of the roles within the sector. Josh and Hashim identified the Maclaren Senna, Ferrari 488 and Mercedes SLS as some of their favorite cars on display.
Can you help?
We are looking for more local businesses to offer Supported Internships and work experience placements for our next cohort of students in September. Do you have links with a company who could offer a placement to one of our students?
If you would like to find out more information about the Supported Internships programme and how to get involved, please contact Maria Sherwood, Progress and Transition Manager.
