Treloar Live
On Wednesday 23rd November, Florence Treloar Hall attracted a large number of students and staff who gathered there to watch Treloar Live musical performances of Treloar’s students.
Treloar Live is an opportunity for College students to show off their musical skills and perform for their peers and staff. Students can sing and perform on Clarion individually or in groups. All the performers practise with their teachers, Oliver and Hayley, to get ready for event and they love the buzz of live performance.
Participation in performing arts activities plays a significant role in building confidence and life skills for our students, preparing them for their adult lives beyond Treloar’s.
This term’s Treloar Live was a huge success and everyone had a fabulous time joining in with many of the songs and giving encouragement to the performers. We were also fortunate to have the Treloar Sing and Sign team lead This is Me from the Greatest Showman and Abba’s Dancing Queen.
It is wonderful to do live events again, and we are already looking forward to the performances next term!
Disability History Month
It’s events like this that help amplify the voice of disabled children and young people, and at Treloar’s, we try to find any opportunity that could allow our students to thrive in their environment. It’s worth mentioning the fact that, this time of year, between 16th November and 16th December, we are also marking Disability History Month; its purpose is to celebrate the achievements of people living with a disability and also to raise awareness.
Treloar Live is just one example of Treloar’s endeavors to remove barriers that our students can face and show the world that, if given a chance, our students are ready to take on a challenge and succeed.
Music at Treloar’s
In July, we were congratulating our three students: Evie, Laurie and Keely who all got a place in the National Open Youth Orchestra!
Laurie and Evie have full membership and Keely will be in the training orchestra. They joined one current Treloar’s student and two former Treloar’s members who are having a fabulous time playing with NOYO.
