Success of Treloar’s Christmas events
Treloar’s Christmas Concert
On 8th and 9th December, we opened our doors to friends, families and our local community to celebrate Christmas with two very special events: Treloar’s Christmas Concert with the Hart Male Voice Choir and Treloar’s Christmas Fair the following day. Treloar’s Director of Music, Jocelyn Watkins, said:
Treloar’s was absolutely delighted to be able to put on their first evening Christmas Concert since 2019 with students from Treloar School and College and the wonderful Hart Male Voice Choir. The evening was full of singing, fun, solos from the students and had an atmosphere of sheer joy. For some of the students, it was their first time performing in front of their parents and a live audience and their confidence shone through as they took to the stage to show their skills and talents. The Hart Male Voice Choir was in excellent voice, ably led by conductor Kevin Jacot and accompanied by Judith Morgan, and we loved their Christmas medleys and version of ‘Whilst Shepherds Watched’. The evening ended with our CEO, Ryan Campbell, helping us with our traditional ‘Must Be Santa’ concert finale with choir and audience joining in with gusto. It was an absolute delight to be able to perform live again and work with our fabulous staff, our exceptional students and the wonderful Hart Male Voice Choir.
The evening was a great success and attracted a large number of guests, including families and friends of Treloar’s students and staff, but also members of the community who support Treloar’s. The tickets sold out before the day of the concert so it came as no surprise when the Jowett Centre became very crowded very quickly!
The concert was enjoyed not only by the audience, but also by the singers themselves. Members of the choir couldn’t praise enough how special it was to them to be able to perform alongside Treloar’s students. The Choir’s Chairman, Mike Morgan said:
I love it. It’s so uplifting. It’s a great honour to share the stage with students from Treloar’s.
Treloar’s Christmas Fair
Our Christmas Fair, taking place the next day was also a huge success and had a high attendance. From the very start to the very end of the fair, the stallholders were kept busy by staff, students and visitors looking to purchase some Christmas decorations, gifts and treats. The Christmas Hamper raffle was one of the most popular stalls, offering over 22 hampers as prizes.
The money raised from both events will help to provide the vital services our students need such as specialist staff, vital equipment, adapted buildings, regular transport, extra-curricular activities and other enriching activities to build their independence and esteem.
We would like to whole-heartedly thank everyone who attended the events to support Treloar’s – your help is much appreciated. And a huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers involved – we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you!
Thanks to the generosity of our guests, we raised £4,000 at both events!
